LEPANTO, ARKANSAS → THE WOODZTHE NAME MEANS SOMETHING.
Before Woodz was a basketball program, The Woods was a place.
In Lepanto, Arkansas, four blocks of Black families became known as The Woodz. It was more than a place. It was community, family and people building something together with what they had—and creating more for what came next.
WHAT IT MEANS NOW.
FOUR BLOCKS GAVE THE NAME ITS BEGINNING. FOUR COMMITMENTS GIVE IT DIRECTION NOW.
They guide what we put around our players, what we make available to them, where we help them go and who we help them become.
PROVIDING WHAT PROGRESS REQUIRES.
Potential can only go so far without support.
Training. Education. Information. Technology. Performance support. Guidance.
Our responsibility is to help put the right resources within reach so a player’s circumstances don’t have to determine the ceiling of their opportunity.
*RESOURCES
OPENING DOORS. CREATING OPPORTUNITY.
Talent alone doesn’t guarantee opportunity.
Relationships matter. Information matters. Being seen matters. Knowing what comes next matters.
We use the platform around Woodz to help create opportunities — then work to make sure our players are prepared when those opportunities arrive.
*ACCESS
BUILDING THE PLAYER. PREPARING THE PERSON.
Development is bigger than workouts, games and basketball skills.
It is teaching. Feedback. Accountability. Decision-making. Confidence. Discipline. Ownership.
We want players to leave Woodz better equipped for the next level of basketball — and better prepared for whatever comes after it.
*DEVELOPMENT
THE RIGHT PEOPLE CHANGE EVERYTHING.
Talent matters. So does who surrounds it.
Coaches. Mentors. Teammates. Families. Professionals. Community.
We believe young people grow differently when they are surrounded by people who challenge them, invest in them & care about who they become beyond the game.
